Chitungwiza Mayor Councillor Rosaria Mangoma said the council is committed to improve service delivery despite some challenges that affect service delivery.
Manyoma Mangoma said this today (January 31) when she was donating Mayor’s Cheer Fund groceries to the less privileged identified across Chitungwiza.
“We are working on improving our roads. Most of them were damaged by the rain last month. As part of this exercise, we are putting pavers at C-Junction, where Mharapara and Hadzinanhanga Road intersect. Our plan is to install traffic lights and filters to decongest the intersection,” she said.
“We will continue to do our best to bring you the services that you want in spite of challenges that we continue to meet, such as financial constraints. Together, we can make Chitungwiza great.”
Her Worship revealed that the council is in talks with a local investor who wants to address water and sewer challenges.
“Chitungwiza continues to face water and sewer challenges. The absence of its own source of water has made it difficult to put an end to perennial sewer challenges. Our team at the works department is usually on the ground, attending to bursts and blockages that continue to happen due to the scarcity of tap water,” she said.
“We hope that by the end of this year the challenge will come to an end, as there is an investor who is willing to work with the town to address the water and sanitation issues. Our cooperation would also include improving our road network and the light industry. It is, however, premature to disclose this investor, as we are still engaged in talks.”
“If the deal comes to fruition, our dream of becoming a Smart Heritage City by 2030 will definitely be realized. Our dream resonates well with the government’s vision of becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.”
