The Mayor’s Cheer Fund brings joy to the less fortunate

It was all smiles for the representatives of organizations looking after the needy members of the community when they received groceries from acting mayor Councillor Kiven Mutimbanyoka through the Mayor’s Cheer Fund.
Representatives from Sharon Cohen, Albino Charity Organization of Zimbabwe (ALCOZ), Bumhudzo Old People’s Association (BOPA), Yemurai Disability Trust (YDT) and Maunganidze Children’s Home (MCH) were handed food hampers at a ceremony held at the Municipality’s head office.
In his remarks during the handover, Councilor Mutimbanyoka said it was his office’s responsibility to see to it that the less fortunate members of the community were well taken care of.
“It is our desire that whenever we get something, we share it with those who face some challenges so that our community will always stay happy,’’ said acting Mayor Mutimbanyoka.
“These are difficult times in our country; however, despite the challenges, we, as a local authority, cannot let our community suffer. As such, when we gather something, we invite our less fortunate members of the community and share what we have.
“Today, we gathered so that we could distribute the little we have. This is in line with the mantra of His Excellence, ‘Leaving no one and no place behind’. No one shall be left behind in Chitungwiza in the programs that we will be having. This is despite the challenges we may be encountering.”
He implored the Chitungwiza community to work together as a team.
“All of us must work together for everyone to have a better life; we all need each other.
“During this election time as Zimbabweans, let us be united, love and be good to each other for the betterment of our country. We should remain united, and obviously, we will overcome our challenges.’’
Albino Charity Organization of Zimbabwe’s founder, Mrs Loveness Mainato said the Mayor’s Cheer Fund provides a lifeline to the community of Chitungwiza.
“It is indeed great work that our Mayor is doing through the Cheer Fund. It shows that he has the family of Chitungwiza at heart. His Worship does not only help us with food hampers but also in all aspects,” she said.
A representative from Maunganidze Children’s Home thanked the Municipality for the good gesture and wished it the best in its strategic humanitarian endeavours.
