Finance

The department is headed by Mrs. Evangelista Machona and its core functions are as follows:

To manage all Council finances
To advise Council, Town Clerk and Management on all financial matters relating to Council
To coordinate activities of the Finance Department with those of other Council departments
To prepare annual estimates of income and expenditure
To prepare monthly management accounts
To prepare annual financial reports
To monitor and control expenditure on approved budget
To collect all income due to Council
To bill all rateable properties in Chitungwiza.
To manage the investment portfolio and maintain the loans register
To manage the insurance portfolio
To maintain the asset register

Departmental Objectives

The five departmental objectives shown below were crafted to feed into the Key Result Area of Sound Local Governance.

To collect 60% of budgeted revenue by 31st December 2023
To submit the budget for 2023 for Ministerial approval by 30th November 2023
To have up to date audited financial statements by 31st December 2023
To pay for procured Council budgeted goods and services monthly
To reduce debtors and creditors outstanding as at 31st December 2022 by 50% come 31st December 2023
