Junior Council joins China-Zimbabwe Diplomatic Celebrations

The Chitungwiza Junior Council on Friday joined government officials and diplomats at the Celebration Centre in Harare to mark the 76th anniversary of Chinese Independence and 45 years of diplomatic relations with Zimbabwe.

Guest of Honour, Defence Minister and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, who was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, hailed China’s support during the liberation struggle and its continued role in infrastructure development.

The event, hosted by the Chinese Embassy, also featured cultural performances from local and Chinese artists, including traditional displays and the famous Monkey King.

Junior Councillors said the gathering gave them an opportunity to learn more about international relations and the value of strong partnerships.

“As junior councillors, we learnt the importance of fostering strong and safe relations with other nations, just as Zimbabwe and China have maintained for decades,” said the junior town clerk, Nyasha Kwaramba.

The event concluded with a networking session and a banquet.
