Chitungwiza’s newly inaugurated Junior Mayor, Kudakwashe Magora, has vowed to champion a child-friendly environment while promoting values of transparency, service, equality, and innovation.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 26th Junior Council on September 5, Magora (pictured with new junior Town Clerk Nyasha Kwaramba) said his leadership will focus on creating opportunities for young people.

“Our vision is to create an avalanche of opportunities and a child-friendly environment for children in Chitungwiza and Zimbabwe at large,” he said.

Magora also urged youths to shun drug and substance abuse, instead embracing entrepreneurship and community initiatives that uplift the city.

Meanwhile, Chitungwiza Municipality’s ICT Manager, Mr John Mapani, speaking on behalf of Acting Town Clerk Mr Japson Nemuseso, encouraged the youth to embrace technology.

“Our Smart Heritage City 2030 Vision is not just about infrastructure but about empowering our people—especially the youth,” said Mr Mapani, highlighting the role of AI and digital innovation in shaping the city’s future.
