Zengeza West Member of Parliament, Honourable Innocent Zvaipa, yesterday officially handed over a newly constructed perimeter wall and a solar energy system to Zengeza 3 Clinic, marking a significant step towards strengthening healthcare service delivery in Chitungwiza.
The projects, funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), are aimed at enhancing security and ensuring an uninterrupted power supply at the busy municipal clinic.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon Zvaipa stressed the importance of safeguarding health facilities and improving efficiency in service provision.
“The safety and security of our healthcare facilities are very important, and the new boundary wall will go a long way in ensuring that our patients and staff are protected,” he said.
“The solar system will enable the clinic to operate efficiently and effectively, improving the overall quality of healthcare services to our residents.”
The installed 6.2 kV solar system is designed to power the laboratory, outpatient department, and maternity unit, ensuring continuity of care during power outages.
The 9-inch-thick boundary wall, which stretches 117 metres around the clinic with a height of 1.8 metres, features two secure gates—an 8-metre front gate and a 4-metre side gate—to enhance controlled access.
Hon Zvaipa expressed appreciation for the support he received from council leadership and the community.
“I would like to thank the councillors for giving me the green light to implement these projects, the Zengeza 3 Clinic staff I worked well with, and you, the residents, for your support,” he said.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Eddmore Muringa commended the MP’s initiative and urged fellow councillors to align their work with the Smart City vision.
“We appreciate Hon Zvaipa’s efforts to improve our healthcare facilities,” said Cllr Muringa.
Ward 11 Councillor Chamunorwa Madya challenged other councillors to emulate the MP’s dedication to improving the health sector in Chitungwiza.
The development is expected to have a lasting impact on service delivery at Zengeza 3 Clinic.
